Nintendo's "influence" is far less than Microsoft's was at the time, because Microsoft actually had a lot of money to burn. If Nintendo are not willing to do that, they aren't going to get everything. Seeing as Bayonetta 2 was hyped as something extremely major, it seems to me like Nintendo just don't want to spend that much. The thing going against Nintendo is their 3rd party history as well. Wii has a huge userbase, but that didn't guarantee huge sales, did it? |
Well not really because very few played wii. You are correct. Anyway what I mean is nintendo could probably persuade some companies with words. Microsoft really needed that money because xbox didn't have any major track record at the time. Even when 360 originally launched microsoft were still putting it 'on the map'. in nintendo's case they have been here since 85 and are still here. They were skeptical of wii but after seeing how much it caught on I bet some were a lot more easy going this time around.
And like I said if rockstar weren't being swayed it is nothing a cheque would have fixed. Just like you pointed out. They are spending more money.
As for how successful it will be we will have to see what happens. The main problem with wii was it was not used as a core gaming machine by a lot of people (the fools). Wii u is using a concept which has proven successful with core gamers so this could go down better. Speculation on my part though. We will have to see.
One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D
