That is why this is important for nintendo though. Sure they argue that they have a fanbase (me included) that dedicate themselves to their systems and would love to play third party games. But the more devious motive here which I actually think nintendo is planning is with the multiplatform users. The people who own more then one console. The ones who would shift from current consoles.
See by convincing them they have a large part of the core market and microsoft and sony's job of convincing these people to jump on board their systems becomes a lot harder. If you bought playstation for gta and think nintendo has the best exclusives, why bother to buy ps4? What is that game that will wow you enough when nintendo have most of the big names in their arsenal?
Thats what I believe they are aiming to do. Convert the ones who will buy. Not persuade the people who have no intention of buying it. Convert the multiplat users and stop them from jumping ship to the others.
As for it being successful, apart from virtual boy nintendo don't have a failure on their record apart from accessories. Its a safe bet this will be no different. It doesn't need to reach wii sales to be successful.
One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D
