He made some great points. Whats so wrong with that?

The 15 second spot ad appears before EVERY SINGLE VIDEO I AM ATTEMPTING TO WATCH which has ads.  And it is not skippable.  I have seen the spot over 50 times, and find it overly simplistic in view.  Even if I agreed with the video's content, I have seen it and I can't skip it.

I guess no one else is getting spammed here.

adblock is your firend here. or stop watching youtube.

Does adblock stop video ads from appearing before a video you want to watch?  Sure, I can stop using YouTube, and stop watching content I want to watch, because of this guy.  And the moment his ad appears, I will often completely not watch the content behind it.  Yes, I am using YouTube less as a result.  I am sure that is what Google intends for ads to do on YouTube (yes they now own YouTuve), for them to get people to use their service less.

I usually only watch embedded videos. Ads do not play on them for me, but for hulu i have to disable it or hulu wont work. I also use a noscript which stops scripts from running unless I choose to allow them. Makes for faster loadin on most pages.

Hmm... looks like there is a connection between embedding and the ads.  I have seen a number of videos that require you watch them on YouTube, and that probably is to be able to turn on the advertising.

For me, I have worked on some trying to market over the web, and have some exposure.  A basic no-no is to try to be targeted with the video, and respect the attention of people watching.  This ad by Thomas shows no sign of respecting this.  And, while it might be effective a few times, he is throwing money down a hole overdoing it the way he is.  If you keep hitting someone with these spots over and over, that people don't like, and are negative the more it is seen, then you waste money.

Considering he is throwing millions into these ads of his own money, and his age, I am not surprised if he is missing how to do it correct.  It reminds me a bit of the Evony spots that kept popping up.  Those could end up being blocked.
