I thought it started when they added that tv drama with cars in it or something lame. TechTV had a good portion of my viewing time, but G4 quickly became unwatched only months (or less) after they took them over.

That show IIRC happened shortly after cops. But yeah, it was all around that same time.

They had freshly canceled cinematech as well.
