I'd say its actually the opposite for most games. Or at least the most successful games. For me, motivation isn't k/d ratio, it's just having fun with the gameplay. When I play a game, I rarely think abot the plot behind it. |

Most Nintendo games go gameplay first over story/points. And even many of the most successful HD games are too. |
So you prefer pointing vaguely to something which only you seem to know, instead of giving names to the games.

Pretty much any Nintendo game; Wii sports, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, 2D Mario, 3D Mario. And most HD games, especially online games; Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Battlefield, Skyrim, FIFA, all fighting games, all racing games, etc. These all use fun gameplay over points/achievements/kd-ratio as the main motivations to play the game.
