Good read. And I agree with both things that are mentioned in it.
Those games (most of them I confess that I didn't play) were loved for what they were and what achieved, not because of their name. Remakes should focus on that.
And the opinion that some genres were abandoned without a cause... Well, it's not only turn-based games. The sucessful return of 2D platforming with the New Super Mario series, Rayman and Sonic or the arcade games that are sold through download services to mcuh success are another proof that publishers act by what they see in the top 10 ranking of sales, forgetting about what people want.
