I feel like this somewhat reinforces the validity of the new Ralph Nader policy of  "Try and build a Liberal/Libretarian coalition."

That would probably be a good direction.  The libertarian part of the republican party is essentially mocked.  Combining liberals and libertarians would probably make a pretty appealing party.
