Lifetime shipments work though by how long the item has been on the market. Logic fail. VGChartz home page isn't any sort of authority either.
The PS3 has had a better rate of sales when launch date is adjusted, fact. It shows the PS3 is a more popular console as it has sold better, albeit having a release a year later.
Wow. How much are you in denial? "Oh let's pretend we don't need to adjust start dates". "Oh it'd be a hollow victory". Or you mean you can't stand the notion of seeing the xbox sales be beaten by the "evil" competition. Back to reality plz and while you're at it, learn a bit about business as you obviously don't know anything about it but are making wild, and incorrect, presumtions about how sales are monitored.

Sales is totally a genetic thing with you people :P
Using your logic, DS outsold the PS2. But its a consencus that PS2 is the winner because it has more lifetime sales. Learn the trends of the gaming industry, as lifetime is always how we operated. You cant sit there and tell me PS3 sold more then 360 lifetime. Sony was late to the party and paid the price, and your totally spinning that to satisfy your primal sales urges.
And it would be a hollow victory in every sense of the definition. Even if PS3 overtakes, it still lost a ton of marketshare where as Xbox increased theirs. It would have done it after the current gen was over, 7+ years, after the spotlight was taken off. By the time it happens I will be personally cheering on the next Xbox getting a head start on PS4. People like you will claim victory with PS3 and Ill laugh and say "But hows PS4 doing now?". Hollow.

DS is a different market....irrelevant comparison.
"We operate"? "We"? As in the business executives or just a fan posting on a forum? How you operate is not how buisness operates. Case dismissed. Your reasoning is wrong as it completely ignores net income, which would obviously take into account launch date. So say what you want, you clearly are just trying to act an authority on a subject you don't understand.

DS is a game system. It plays video games. Comparing car sales or computer sales is totally irrelevant. The logic is sound though as if you say that DS outsold PS2 in the same timeframe youll get laughed out of the forum by everyone.By "we" I mean gamers. We always went by lifetime sales. No matter what you tell me about your logic....it just screams "sore loser". In the gaming industry, it is unique as release dates arnt taken into account, only lifetime sales. I don't make up the rules. You all launch within a year of eachother and see what happens. Wii launched late and how did that go? Again, dont be a sore loser.
Clearly your trying to find victory where there isn't. 360 has more net income then PS3 as well, even if we did comparative launches. 360 sold more then PS3. It is as simple as that.

So you think ford compare their sales of the Taurus to the Ferrari California? Different markets.
So net income doesn't consider timescale from launch date? The 360 has sold more, but it had a years lead, and when you adjust sales, the PS3 has almost considently sold better. Fact. Stop trying to act that comparing the two whilst ignoring launch date is a fair or relevant comparison.
