Because the GC controller is the best in the world...

This is a valid point. The GCN controller has poor button layouts, but for a game like MKWii, that layout is actually good. Combine that with the fact that the GCN controller is the most comfortable traditional controller ever, and you basically come out with the fact that any game that CAN be played with the GCN controller SHOULD have that option.

Moving on, since we know that option does indeed exist, those graphics pointed out in the initial post are because the graphics will change depending on which controller method you have selected. If you've got waggle controls selected, the graphics show Wii buttons. If you've got the Classic Controller selected, it shows CC buttons. If you've got the GCN controller selected, it shows GCN buttons.

Simple.

Personally, I think the Gamecube controller has superior button layouts.

I like the GCN controller very much, too... Well, for BEUs the asymmetric button layout is pretty bad and the d-pad is too small, for example for SEUs (but at least it HAS a real d-pad which is a very good one, too) but on the other hand side the button layout is just great for JNRs, ADVs, RPGs..., etc... Control is simply more easy to memorize! By the way the GCN controller has two great analog shoulder buttons and in my opinion the control sticks are the best... Well, on THEIR layout you can have different opinions depending on which games you want to play (same as with the button layout)... The rumble feature was just too weak, by the way..., but at least betters as the Wii remote's...
