Well DS' only chance right now is that PS2 will be discontinued tomorrow.

Yes, the way things now seem to be, everything's pretty much at a stand-still. Not much will change about 'the gap' this way. Still, though it is a long shot, holidays could still change things potentially. I'll hold my final judgment until January.

The inner Nintendo-fan in me hopes DS'll be around just long enough to make it, but realistically, I don't really care either way. . It did amazing no matter what.

Lastly, I think DS will be the last console in a very long time (maybe ever) that is able to dream about taking the #1 position from PS2. I don't see any other console being that succesful in the future. Especially if consoles keep growing closer together in sales like they did in this Gen.
