Torillian said: That's simple, it isn't about what Kinect is trying to duplicate, it's how it was sold. It was sold as an add-on to the X360 system, and it should be compared to add-ons to other systems. If the next console includes one with every unit then it can be compared to a primary, manditory controller like the Wiimote. |
You are wise beyond your years, Torillian.
Not to mention that one is a $150 accessory that few games use while the other is utilized by every game on the console.
Its not $150 accessory, its bundled lol. Also it's $250 bundled with the 360, sounds familiar lol.
Yes, but for the primary userbase (i.e. the ~ 68 million who already own a 360), it's still an overpriced accessory.
Kinect released in 2010, the 360 definitely wasn't pushing 68 million. Also the 360 has had its best years ever since Kinect. Kinect is a bundled primary controller just like the Wii remote. Its also sold separately just like the Wii remote. I don't care how expensive it is, MS just it, knowing it would be an expensive option to the Wii remote. Being expensive didn't stop the PS3 from continuing to outsell the 360 even with being more expensive.

16.96M 360 owners have a Kinect out of 68.9M. (Based on Kinect Adventures sales)
96.7M Wii owners have a Wiimote out of 96.7M.
Kinect is also NOT a primary controller. The primary controller is the standard 360 controller.
Your point? Both come bundled and both can navigate the console, neither needs the other, which is what makes them both standard 360 controllers.
Can you play Gears of War with Kinect? If 9/10 games don't work with Kinect, how is Kinect the primary controller?
Can you play Wii Fit with the Wii Remote? It's a primary controller by being needed to play dozens of games within the 360 library. What makes it a fair comparison to the Balance Board?
I can show you a 360 that comes with a standard controller and no Kinect. Can you show me a 360 that comes with Kinect and no controller? Can you show me a Wii bundle that doesn't come with a Wii Remote?
That's the difference!
