I just can't narrow it down like that. My brain and my heart end up having a huge internal dust up over their favourites and I'm left with a headache and heartburn...
Actually... I lied... managed to come to the following (which will change by tomorrow anyway but what the heck).
1) Deus EX
2) ICO
3) System Shock 2
4) Half Life 2
5) Shadow of Colossus & Silent Hill 2 & Silent Hill 4 (tie, so sue me)
Hmm. So FPS RPG with strong story and sense of place is big for me I see... as is creating a sense of timeless myth / otherworldiness with a story that evokes a strong emotional response
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
