Wow I do the same thing like in halo i try to keep the marines from dying etc.... 

Yup. And if it's a great accidental loss (like an easily avoidable Warthog explosion or misplaced grenade) I often even revert to last checkpoint.

They don't deserve to suffer because of my mistakes :P
