Apparently the problem is that the server their main site is on can't handle so many people on it at once and it keeps ending up crashing. In turn, Chris Roberts set up a Kickstarter today with a $500k goal to supplement the amount that's coming in on the main site.

I don't think 2 million should be too much of a problem to get to, considering that word keeps spreading.
