To be fair, this thread was made in 2010, the Wii's massive collapse was just beginning to happen as 3rd parties abandoned it and Nintendo plus a few successful stranglers were still making money. Had it actually sustained itself better in the west (or the 3DS been the monster hit Nintendo wanted at the original price point), it could have become the best selling console and probably would have let Nintendo hold off on announcing its successor console for another 6 months to a year.
But the drought that hit the Wii was severe and once a family had one system, gamers didn't really feel the need to support it just like developers that weren't aiming for the casual market.
