As Crissindahouse said, I watched the videos in a small window, which together with the compression creates the illusion that there is more detail then there actually is. Especially with the off-screen footage.
There is nothing wrong with my tv, I play on a 1080p projector, 92" screen, carefully calibrated. It was disappointing mostly because the demo starts out with a very brown track with very heavy bloom. The lighting was a bit off too, it seemed that the lighter trees were glowing. Need for speed hp and Dirt 3 both had a better initial impression on me. The second race was looking better though.
Arcadey is not a bad thing, but I had expected a bit more punishment from driving into cars and guard rails. I misjudged a corner and bounced of the inside of a competitor and moved up 4 places in the pack.
I only had 20 minutes to play so far, and I can't wait to play some more because the driving is great. So it's doing that part right :) I'll switch the 360 to 720p this time and let the projector do the upscaling. That had cleaner results with Alan Wake. I'll get used to the graphics, it takes a little time when blowing 720p games up to that size.
