Microsoft Kinect: Why it failed to do what it was supposed to do even though it was successful

I thought Kinect was supposed to get the xbox 360 out of the bedroom into the living room and turn the 360 into a subscription based music / tv / movie viewing device. Seems they're still going forward with that.
The games are simply the Trojan horse. The annual sports and dance games are sufficient for that.
