Of that 4Chan post, this is the one that stood out and the one that concerns me:
"What kind of message does it send to impressionable teens that if you go ahead and kill yourself that you will get thousands of likes on a facebook page and everyone will feel sorry for you and give you attention? If you have any self respect for the future then you'd stop and think about where your morals are."
The 1.-7.--I don't know how it could be fabricated when it is pretty much confirmed by Amanda, herself, in the video. I do worry, though. I used to be super depressed at one point in time (feels like a lifetime ago) and I spent a lot of time fantasizing about how my community would react to my death. I've probably visualized my funeral a thousand times. This--the outpouring of concern--does seem to send the wrong message. But what can we do? It's a sad occasion and people are genuinely hurt by what took place. Who is 4Chan, or anybody else for that matter, to say, "Hey, you can't feel bad about this girl you've never met. Stop acting like you care."? We are human. We care.
I've never been to 4Chan's site. I'm sure it's the breeding ground of morality, family values, and answers to all that is wrong in the world. That's great. Let them lead by example. I'll gladly follow.
