In the past few days people have been telling me that they want to pre-order the Wii U really bad, but can't because they are sold out everywhere in the Hamburg/Blasdell, NY area! Is this information truly accurate? The answer is, yes and no!
I took it upon myself to call the local stores around this area to see which stores were truly sold out of the Wii U and which ones were just saying that! Just giving you the heads up, there is only one store who is not sold out of them, but there's a catch!
Below is the list of store's that I contacted:
1) Toys R Us (McKinley Pkwy Hamburg, NY)
-Sold out of the Wii U (Both versions)
-You can, however, pre-order titles like New Super Mario Brothers U, ZombiU, Nintendo Land, Skylanders Giants, Assassins Creed III, Just Dance 4, Madden 13, Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition, Scribblenauts Unlimited, LEGO City Undercover, and Sonic Transformed Bonus Edition. They also have the option to pre-order the new Wii U Pro Controller in both black and white.
2) GameStop (3701 McKinley Parkway Blasdell, NY 14219)
-Sold out of the Wii U (Both versions)
-You can, however, sign up for their specially designed "wait list", which is obligation free, that allows you to be called on a first come first serve basis if someone decides to cancel their pre-order or if there is a new shipment coming in. But in order to be on this list, you must own or sign up for a Powercard!
3) Target (5622 Amanda Lane Orchard Park, NY)
-Sold Out of Wii U (Both versions)
-You can, however, pre-order a very small selection of Wii U titles. I believe they have ZombiU, Nintendo Land, and New Super Mario Bros U.
4) Walmart (5360 Southwestern Blvd Hamburg, NY)
- This store has not yet started selling their pre-orders yet. Sources tell me that there will be a shipment in of them on Sunday; game pre-orders are still unknown.
5) Best Buy (McKinley Parkway Blasdell, NY)
- Sold out of the Wii U (Both versions)
So if you are looking to get your hands on the Wii U, your best option would be trying to get on the wish list at GameStop or stopping in at Walmart on Sunday and hope that they have some. But if you already have a Wii U pre-ordered, I highly suggest that you stop at Toys R Us since they probably have more pre-orders for games and accessories than any other store on this list.
