Kylie makes a very good point except I refuse to call homosexuality a defect. How successful a species is goes back to how successful they are at reproducing.
I might get some heat for this but there is no evidence out there that convinces me homosexuality is solely genetic. Or at least heavily determined by genes. I do believe it may be a factor among various other factors though.
