The incompetent EU that: - messed up with Yugoslavia in such a big way, leading to many more deaths. - has presided over the biggest econmic cock up / scam of all time in the Euro ruining millions of peoples futures. - knowingly allowed Nations to lie about their economies allowing them to join and therefore completely messing up the global economy - allows countries with not entirely democratically elected governments to join them. - has a member state threatening military intervention in one of its own states, catalonia - is incompetent - is corrupt - has an all time low confidence rating of 30% across the whole of the EU - has populations of Greece and Spain engaging in civil unrest and burning of flags of other EU nations due to the mess the EU created - has lead to a rise in ultra right wing groups in many nations due to their meddling and financial incompetence.
And who awards this prize? a Norwegian body... Norway a country that doesnt want to join the EU. You couldnt make it up. The liberal elite have finally taken over the asylum. Dont give the prize to individuals who strive for peace or for rights of individuals in their own countries whaever you do... just award it to a bunch of overpaid unelected fat cat beaurocrats. Bravo!
It is NATO that has kept the peace in Europe. It has nothing, NOTHING, to do with the EU.

What is funny to me is how Obama won it for pretty much just replacing Bush.
The European architects did not plan the crises, nor had they imagined the roots of a federal pan-european system. What they did though was imagine a cooperational system, both plitical and economic, that would allow Europe to internalize legally and structurally our competition.
And in that aspect, they achieved full success.
If the EU project doesn't deserve the nobel prize for peace, who does ?
