I think the difference between Vita and PS3 is that Sony subsidized the PS3, IIRC. They aren't in the same position to do that with the Vita. Same with Nintendo, they were in a position to take a hit financially and cut the price of the 3DS.
I don't think Call of Duty will sell Vitas, it doesn't look very good. I think AssCreed will be the big game for it. We'll see if it can push systems though. Might be tough with AssCreed3 releasing on HD consoles.
