Neither PS3 nor 3DS were in as bad a position as 3DS is.
PS3 was lucky enough to have 360 as a port buddy, so 3rd parties didn't have to pass them by because of their low sales or difficult architecture. Funnily enough, 360 contributed to saving the PS3.
We knew 3DS had the big games coming and it was selling about 2 or 3 times better than Vita even before the pricecut.
Of the two big games I know that are coming for the Vita this holiday, COD & AC, the COD looks and, according to impressions I've read, plays like shit.
AC is looking good.
