Almost every notable IP of this generation has seen three games released this generation (some even more!), and new game ideas are becoming rarer and rarer. If you actually want to play something new, and not just retread the same games that came out in 2007 with a fresh coat of polish and a new scenario, new hardware is your best chance for that.
