Since when is launching first a downside? Look at the previous generations, it was always a good move.
It still is.
Sega's DC faillure had nothing to do with launching first. Crappy management was the DC's downfall.

It's very unlikely the other consoles will have a big hardware advantage - Not unless the others are going to be mini-pc's sold at a big loss.
