I have another opnion about the "downloadable content".

The DLC just exists because the PC port... to make the dudes buy the PC game too... it was exclusive to PC but a lot of fans hated that and Nanco changed and now they are to release the DLC in every plataform.

The PC port is just a cheaper choice to try to sell more units of this game because they are not satisfacted with the sales in 360/PS3 version.

The sales is not good for a multiplaform game... even 2M is low for multiplataform game... for exclusive 2m is fine but there are a lot of cost to develop a multoiplaforma game.

That's what I think.

You might be right. At the same time I think the PC version was a result of high demand.

The other thing to consider is that Demon's Souls and Dark Souls were very successful compared to From Software's 'King's Field' games on the PS2.

If From Software could stay afloat on the sales of 'King's Field' games then i think Dark Souls has been a great success for them.

I agree with the costs of multiplatform development and localisation to Europe. So for Namco Bandai they might have expected more sales. But for From Software I think this is the most successful game they've ever made, so on the side of the developers I think it was a great success. On the side of the publisher I think it was a moderate success.

At the same time, I've seen a few people comment about Sony. And its not just about fanboyism. The publisher Namco Bandai have a dubious reputation. They originally created the limited edition of the game to come with a copy of a mini strategy guide. They went back on their word and removed the mini-strategy guide from the packaging, and made it available for digitial download. Which I think is annoying.

And I didn't see much advertising for this game. I think if a different publisher was involved, like say Sqaure Enix they would have advertised the game better. Look at how good Sleeping Dogs was marketing and its become a suprise success. I think the game would have been more successful if Namco were not publishing.
