To be honest, while it's funny to look back on this thread, it really should have been able to clear 200 million, easily.

It would have happened if:
1. Nintendo didn't monumentally drop the ball with releases and marketing the last two-three years
2. Third parties didn't actively seek to discredit it and do everything in their power to halt its progress rather than support it

The thread's not that ridiculous at all, really.

To be fair, Nintendo dropped the ball big time with the hardware on the Wii. The difference between the Wii and X360/PS3 was so vast, developers didn't want to re-create their titles for the Wii, especially when the X360/PS3 had a userbase that was similar to where the Wii was, and eventually surpassed the Wii by pretty large numbers.

Had Nintendo of put more into the hardware, it could have sold 150 million or more. But I think all of those anti-hardware threads about the Wii ended up coming true.

THIS, those predictions were always crazy and made no sense. His 2nd point is wrong IMHO, 3rd parties were not going to support WIi in droves period because a lot of the engines running on the HDs which people forgot 360 was already out a whole year before cant even run on Wii without heavy modding if at all. What was funnier is that some people tried to explain that and were labeled as Ninty haters. Now that dont seem so crazy. Another thing is the controller IMHO if they put more power into that, it would have served them better.
