Big franchises are somewhat immune. It's still going to sell well. The people who like Resident Evil are going to buy it regardless. We also have to watch and see how it's reviewed in Japan. Sometimes the difference in tastes between Japan and the west can be very apparent in how something is received by the respective critics.
If there is one thing that bothers me about the current gaming generation, it's how how many people have come to allow reviewers to form their opinions for them. I've already seen tons of people who have not played the game talk about how awful RE6 and Capcom are, and a great many of those have made their minds up based on the score instead of the reviews themselves.
