Can Sony devote its developers to a console with a tiny install base, and so little software sales? If they had its pockets full, maybe, but in the economic situation it is nowadays, I don't think they can sustain the Vita by itself.
Some people still have the mentality of the PS2-start of PS3 era, Sony is now fighting for its life, they can't maintain non-profitable ventures.
