Well, I think that a third Souls Games would sell worse because I think that many tried out the game because of the fabulous reviews and did not like it. Being difficult alone is a factor that may enjoy hardcore gamers... but even if Video games originated as challenging games they turned into a form of entertainment. I know many who like to play their games on easy mode and enjoy the story/setting. They are no "competitive" gamer, dislike online multiplayer modes and get no satisfaction out of "beating a hard challenge".

I platinum Demon's Soul and I must admit that I was not really well entertained. The story was minimal, the character was silent and it simply wasn't happening much. It really was more like a pure Action Game with RPG elements than a RPG for me. There was not much entertainment for people that do not enjoy a hard difficult level. So after beating Demon's Soul I decided that I would not fell again for the high reviews and that I am finished with the Franchise.

So all in all, going multiplatform did surely increase the potential of buyers. But even with the high reviews I doubt that being a difficult action Game alone will not offer a substantially larger sales numbers for the franchise. I think that there is a large portion of gamers that find the game lacking in entertainment value and will not buy a second game of the franchise. After All, Demon's Souls was never supposed the come the West initially because Sony doubted it to be a success.

You bring up valid points, but Demon's/Dark Souls is a game targeted at the gamer and isn't meant for casual play. Sure it might lose some of the sells that the two enjoyed originally, but it will always retain a core fanbase and so isn't in danger of losing a ton of sells next time around. If anything, it has set itself up for more success since it went multiplatform thereby drawing in sells from the 360 crowd.

It may very well be possible that a sequel won't sell any better, but I personally feel the series has a long life ahead of itself.

I don't know why people tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!
