I think that it's mostly wishful thinking, obviously not a game dev myself but 8 GB of RAM dedicated for games it's way too much, 4 GB will be more than enough imo.

 

Neither am I, but I'm going to go with the people who are game developers, and if they say 4-8GB of RAM is neccessary then it's probably neccessary.
