People talk about sales of Windows OS but seem to forget that sales are guaranteed. Windows OS will be pre-installed on every new PC and every new laptop soon enough. Also they have had an upgrade program for the last few months where the upgrade is very inexpensive. Windows 8 will sell very well, maybe not as well as 7, but very very well indeed. Microsoft will have a massive financial year. The zune mp3 player was sooo much better than an ipod, it was a sensational device. But you simply cant compete in that arena against the ipod. The xbox was a reasonable first forray into gaming, it beat the Nintendo gamecube and laid the foundations of the massively succesful successor. |
Vista was terrible and was a huge resource hog. I remember when it came out I installed it on my laptop at the time. (2.1ghz pentium m) and everything slowed to a crawl. I put XP back on shortly after. I stayed with XP for a loooong time before finally upgrading to win7. I have no plans to switch to win8 as it doesn't really seem like an upgrade over win7. Maybe if MS priced the upgrade like Apple prices theirs now $20 for ML) I'd consider upgrading.
It would've helped Zune if MS had tried to do anything with it outside of the U.S. I really wanted a Zune HD when it first came out, but MS didn't sell them in Japan. I hoped the Zune store would ship overseas, but nope US only even with my US credit card. I would've had to ship it to my parents and then give them money to ship it to me.
In the end I went with an iPod touch as I could get them easily and it ended up being less expensive than the Zune HD(without having to go through all of those hoops to get one.)
