I was going to go on with a joke about having the kids make their own meals, work on a farm, etc... However, I believe home economics should be taught to younger kids. It wasn't offered till I was in middle school and usually the guys just take shop. I am pretty sure we were forced into at least one class of home economics that we couldn't substitute shop with. From what I remember though I don't believe they focused on teaching us how to cook healthy meals. It was a cake here and something else there... Not sure why home economics, gym, and health class can't fight childhood obesity. I blame the parents.
