MS has pretty much kept the 360 pegged to the US price of the system although the JP price includes tax. It's just that the yen has become strong vs the USD in the past 2-3 years, which is why it seems very high doing a direct exchange.
Hopefully, MS comes out with a worldwide pricecut. This probably won't do much in Japan besides a temporary bump, but it could be big everywhere else.
