I guess I am alone in this viewpoint but for me the original Resident Evil games were boring. I played the Resident Evil remake for the Cube and after 30 mins I put it down and never picked it up again. How utterly boring it is to run away from zombies or try and sneak past them. How anyone thought any of those games were entertaning beats me. If that is the template of survival horror then count me out because it is a snoozefest to play a game where the majority of the time you are running away.
