All you have to do is look at the iPhone 5 and see that it has a higher build quality than the S III, which is mostly plastic. The only company making phones with the same build quality as Apple is Nokia.
I don't need to drive a Mercedes into a brick wall to see that it has a higher build quality than a Ford Mustang, just looking at the thing and sitting it in will tell me that much. The Mustang might be just as fast around a race track but there's a reason it's 2/3rds the price (and it's more than just logo surcharge). Quality components cost money and the iPhone's aluminum & glass frame is more expensive than plastic.
