Probably non-compete cause related, and Sony decided to have its lawyers make some phone calls.  It could be also that Sony realizes that Kevin Butler is too strong of a brand for them to let go.  Maybe Jerry gets more work from Sony.

Edit: Also, I think Sony needed to keep an eye on the narrative for Kevin Butler.  They had Kevin Butler being so loyal to Sony he returned "no matter what" after leaving for a said president job:

Jerry is so identified with Kevin Butler now, it is hard for him to go anywhere else and do any other work.
