I think both Sony and MS are going to push heavily for a more subscription based payment model along with a reduced initial price. This will allow them to spend more money on the actual console hardware, or whatever gimmicks they want to add, yet still keep it affordable.
I think somehow sony will fit this in to their PS+ pricing and MS with their live subscription.
