Yeah, I'd say that this is the most unexciting iOS major release yet. Mostly lots of nice little features, nothing huge and dramatic.

Mostly because of all the work that went into creating a Google Maps alternative, methinks. It's a massive undertaking to build a replacement for a service that Google has been developing for seven years. Apple's maps app might be a sidegrade (at best), but it's a huge hurdle that Apple needed to jump sooner or later. From a user standpoint, little has changed, but from a developer standpoint, that's a challenge as big as Siri.

Speaking of which, the nicest thing for me as a Canadian is getting full access to Siri's functionality. It was nice for reminders, voice control, and other small tasks, but it really sucked to be unable to search for anything location-based.
