I agree that Sony probably won't release the PS4 selling it at a loss, at least big one ($50 max).
Just look at Vita. Everybody is telling them that they need to lower the price to make the device more appealing yet they don't want to hear it. Why? Because they can't take more losses.

Yup. PS3 took way too long to become profitable. They are going to scale back on this one. Plus I don't think they will charge more than $500 for the system. I'm thinking it will be between $350 - $450 for the lower end SKU. I could be way off base, but I think they will want more people to adopt the system up front so they make more off of the games sold for it.

I see $450 as the absolute max for a console this time. The economy isn't good enough to launch expensive consoles and $450 is already a lot of money.
