yes, indeed it did. But that's because GC lacked 3rd party support. If WiiU gets good ports (not those bastard gimped versions Wii got) Nintendo will have all the games PS720 will get and Mario. I mean... That's good. What Playstation and Xbox thrive on is 3rd party support. Sure, Halo sell 10m units and GT about the same... But 2D Mario sell moar than 25m. 3D Mario sell 10m. Zelda sell 5-7m. Imagine if Nintendo had every 3rd party games as well as their own IP's...

But who will buy a Wii U to play  game already in ps3 and Xbox360  like Fifa and COD ?
