Linux on the PS3 isn't really worth it at the moment. Until they free up the hypervisor and allow access to the RSX and its ram ps3 Linux will be far too slow. 256mb is not enough!!! Unless it gets stupidly optimised for the cell it'll remain fully in the territory of epic fail.
