The original XBox 360 warranty was 90 days, they extended it to 1 year after the RROD problems were causing huge consumer backlash from people having to pay hundreds of dollars to have their couple month old system repaired, and then Microsoft took a $1 Billion loss to extend the warranty to 3 years.
