Surely, you know what I mean, :P. Religion comes up from time to time when you're talking to people, anyway, and, when asking an atheist about something concerning religious affiliation, I have never received any response that can't be equated to "don't insult me" followed by a rant.
Also, while it's a little pointless to argue over definitions, I'd say that, given that religion is a largely personal and psychological thing (meaning that you can't truly analyze someone's beliefs from the outside), someone claiming they're religious is sufficient evidence for them being religious.
