That is pretty much what HAS to happen based on sales of PS3 so far in order to gt a return on their investment. Things may change, but they would seiously be foolsih not to port this game over. |
I think that's what non-360 owners like myself are thinking. Given that Namco said that you need to sell 500,000 copies of a game like Ridge Racer to break even on the PS3, I wouldn't be surprised if a mega-budget game like MGS4 didn't require 750,000 or 1,000,000 copies to see black ink. Konami is likely to make a profit no matter what, I think (does anyone really believe the game will sell less than 1 million copies?), but that profit could be small or insignificant, and software companies don't like to spend millions of dollars and several years of development on their flagship title only to see little or no profits.
So how do you solve that problem? Assuming you can't do much about PS3 sales in the mean time, the easiest way to see real returns would be to port to the 360. This is also why some people think Kojima may be wrong: he may personally have no interest in a 360 version, but I doubt his CFO feels the same way.
