That was different, because it was clear any VC game on the PSP was going to be lower budget/lower production values (which was most of their reason for doing it, alongside the fact that the PSP was more viable in VC's main market, Japan), which means that the second and third games were lesser games than they could have been.
The double standard (which i haven't seen from you specifically, but from this situation in general) is that when Nintendo gets multiplats, people are all "meh, why buy for the Wii U when you can just get it elsewhere?" but when Nintendo gets an exclusive (and lets be honest here, Bayonetta 2 is pretty damn low on the totem pole for exclusives Nintendo could steal) it's all "suicide" and "this isn't how you make fans, Nintendo."
