That is basically what I said. When you question  and check your own objectivity as a safety precaution you are being objective. And sorry, I forgot the "All" in there.

Except it wasn't... you missed frame of refrences.  This is different from bias.

Additionally I can't see how you think you've accouted for it when... you know.  You didn't even think it was bias a day ago.

Before 5 years ago, it was practically universal that Best FF Main:Cloud, Best FF Villain: Sephiroth, best FF Game: FFVII whenever such lists showed their face.

5 years ago is 2007 right?

Lets look at IGN's 100 best games list from 2005.

http://top100.ign.com/2005/001-010.html

FF7, 88th best game of all time.

FF6?  56th best game of all time.

FF4? 26th best game of all time.

Aside from that. Frame of refrence means you can appreciate the game as part of it's era.

It actually always was very rare FF7 ever ended up at number 1 final fantasy wise in a list done by professional videogame magazines or websites.

That belief has pretty much ALWAYS persisted among people who had played both in order.

If you didn't notice, you simply weren't paying attention.

Unfortunately most of these sites no longer keep pages from 2005 and back so It is relatively hard to scrounge them up. Also many of these top lists were in Magazines.

Cant find the date but seems to be using an older list....

As of 2012, This is how most FANS think of the game...

here is an IGN article that touches on the new disdain many formed for the game...

http://www.ign.com/articles/2009/03/03/is-final-fantasy-vii-overrated?page=2

FFVII might not have always been at the very top of the lists but it has always been ranked pretty high. When talking about the greatest games of all time in particular, it is relatively hard to have that conversation without mentioning the game and how it left a huge mark on gaming as a whole. Big sites like IGN are sort of the problem as they are the main ones that perpetuate such ideas  (the "Lets roast a game everyone loves" article) because it drives hits.

Well first off... most of your list seems to be one off fan lists... not proffesional lists like I mentioned.

Outside of the Famitsu one... which was in fact, a readers poll.

FF7 is going to win in readers polls, just out of pure numbers.

Not really when it comes to people who have played them all... and in order though.

Which like I said, was my point.

That FF6 is better then FF7 is something that has ALWAYS existed... generally by the minority that have played all the final fantasy games... and in order.

a majority of those people seem to like 4 or 6 best, and both better then 7.

You never really countered any of that, and are just kinda going off on a huge tangent.

There have always been a fairly large number of people who have played the FF games that think 6 is better... because well... any number of reasons related to telling a bigger story from multiple perspectives and having many emotional moments rather then just relying on one thing.

The big death in FF7 isn't really shocking if you had played other FF games before it... pretty common in FF games actually.
