Why is FF6 better than 7?

Better Story, Better Characters, More expressive characters, more emotion, better art, better atmosphere, better music, better villain, better overworld, bigger overworld, more personality, better pacing, less linear. Also, its much more a traditional fantasy universe (with steampunk/magipunk elements), where FF7 is the first game to jump into a quasi modern "we have guns, but everybody still fights with swords anyway" universe.

FF7 had pretty FMVs, and it had great moments as well. I'm not knocking the masterpiece that is FF7. But FF6 is a better game all around.

Is it a question of taste? Of course. YMMV. I just think FF6 had a lot more going for it.

"we have guns, but everybody still fights with swords anyway"

ff 6 is steampunk and they dont have the tecnology to make guns? i didnt finish ff6 but from what i remenber there is guns there too i think ...

Nope, everything is powered by magic.  The closest we come to guns is magical walking tanks and Edwards Autocrossbow.  And FF6 isn't steampunk, it just has steampunk elements.

Edit:  At least, that's how I remember it.  Its been many years since I fired up this game.

You can see Narshe rebels using guns against Magiteks in a FMV from the ps1 version

Skyrim and ME2 (lol) will be top 5, calling it.

Revisionist history.  Blasphemy.  Wasn't this after Nomura took over the FF series anyway?
