I think the recent Wii U CPU rumors fail given that we already know for a fact the Wii U CPU is Power7 and Broadway was a PowerPC based CPU. Meaning it can't be an enhanced Broadway chip AND be Power7 at the same time.

And one bit of info came from IBM and the other bit of info from....?

I fully agree, however, what if Nintendo got scared with 3DS lack of sales and pricepoint, decided to go with back up plan on lower CPU. Original rumors also showed it to have four cores where all recent rumors have had 3.

I didn't update the 2nd post with details for the broadway cpu. I only put it in the top section. However, I've gotten serious flack for that and no one seems to think its true in the thread either. I'll go ahead and delete its mention.

No way they could change the power factor that greatly and not have major problems with the development community.  That would directly damage the financial planning of publishers and developers that have been working on Wii U hardware for over a year now.

And it was pretty recent that IBM made it clear it was a Power7 CPU.    The 3DS financial issue happened well over a year and the fault was simply a high margin and poor foreign exchange rate rather than a costly CPU.
