AppleTV?

That would require people to purchase an AppleTV first though. I just talking about a generic lead which allows iDevices to be connected to any TV screen

With Apple, there is nothing generic and it would cost $100 -- or more.

And something like this would probably only work for an iPad --- which is 2x the cost of a console now.  (Because dumping an iPhone game to a TV would result is a blocky, small pix -- just look at iPhone apps on an iPad).

The official lead I bought from the apple store to allow me to connect my ipad2 to a TV was £25 I think, I am sure it would work with my iphone (never tried it)

I stand corrected. This can be done through AirPlay with Apple TV.  The cable (from Apple) for iPad to Composite (RCA cables) is $39 USD.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
